Golfam is a specialist orthodontist. This means she has completed an extended period of training in orthodontics, in addition to her general dental training. Golfam has qualified with honours in dentistry and obtained her dental degrees (BDS and DDS) before moving to the UK where she completed her 3-year specialist orthodontic training programme at the Eastman Dental Hospital and Institute. She obtained her Master of Science in Orthodontics from the University of London in 2005. In 2009 she was awarded Membership of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh in orthodontics.
She went on to do further training, to become a hospital consultant in orthodontics, between Guy's Hospital London and Addenbrooke's Hospital, Cambridge and received her Fellowship in Orthodontics from The Royal College of Surgeons of England, in 2013.
Her interest lies in treating children and adult cases of varying complexity using fixed (both metal and aesthetic), self-ligating and lingual appliances. Golfam is a certified provider of Incognito and WIN lingual appliances and Invisalign clear aligners.
She is also involved in the surgical treatment of patients with jaw discrepancies and other multidisciplinary cases, such as treating people with missing and buried teeth, in collaboration with her restorative and surgical colleagues.
She is passionate about teaching and is involved in teaching both undergraduate and postgraduate dental and orthodontic students in her hospital career as a consultant and she also lectures for her colleagues on different aspects of orthodontics.
When not working, she is a sports enthusiast and enjoys playing badminton and staying in good health. She has a passion for travelling so that she experiences a new culture, people and cuisines and loves to cook and reproduce what she has experienced.
